Colorado  Natural Compost

Colorado Natural Compost, affiliated with Mountain Valley Lumber Co., Inc., is an operation that started in the late 90's in the heart of Colorado. With the consulting help of Kuska Associates, our focus has been the development of a business that would address environmental issues for the San Luis Valley. 

Since the San Luis Valley, the largest valley high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, is one of the countries largest commercial potato producers the problem of waste disposal was on the horizon for the local landfills.

CNC came up with the solution for the disposal problem by combining one of our byproducts, sawdust, with the cull potatoes. In addition to the compostable stock of two parts sawdust and two parts potatoes, we added manure to complete our award winning blend of sawdust, potato and manure.  

Mountain Valley Lumber Co., Inc. has remained dedicated to environmentally friendly practices since its inception by utilizing every component of our harvested standing dead trees. From custom log homes and log furniture to wood shavings for livestock bedding and sawdust compost, we have strived to set the highest standard of innovative and ecological practices. Colorado Natural Compost now joins the other fine, quality products offered by Mountain Valley Lumber.
